Taft Street Winery

Taft Street Winery, just off 116, where Occidental Road crosses Barlow Lane, is home to "Garagistes since 1979".

Taft Street Winery, with Oakland/Rockridge District/Cal proximity in the original garage location, home to Garagistes carrying out their Garagiste manifesto since 1979, is ensconced in the RRV, in gorgeous, newly remodeled TR with outdoor event space, crafting exquisite wines, known even more especially fondly for their Chardonnay, offering guests a chance to join their Presidents Club, picnic on the terrace or in the back with a game of Bocce, and visit with the friendly winery cat, Finnegan.  The family history with the Two Mikes, the warm staff, and winemaker Evelyn White, with her incredible chops, all add to the mix of fun, great, accessible wines at fair prices- and now, special outdoor events, such as A Little Street Music, 3pm – 6pm, the FREE Summer Music Series taking place the last Sunday of each summer month.   Bring a picnic (or purchase one at nearby Andy’s Produce), a low chair or blanket, and luxuriate in the outdoor event space under the newly leafing trees or shady canopy, sipping a glass or bottle of Taft Street Wine, purchased in the TR.  (Please note: no outside alcoholic beverages allowed; it is the law….).  Taft Street, part of the Taste Route 116 group, is very centrally located, easily accessible and a great addition to your day.  Insider tip: guests from Wine Road lodging member Fairfield Inn & Suites are given a comp tasting at these Taste Route 116 wineries when they show their hotel room key (subject to change/cancel/discretionary tweaking- check with lodging for details.).

Coming west off of 116 on Occidental Road, watch for Barlow Lane to the south, yes, left, you Southpaw....
