Wine Road World HQ Member Meet & Greet Spring Mixer

Twice per year, Spring and Fall, we have fabulous Wine Road Member Meet & Greet Mixers at our palatial  Wine Road World HQ in downtown Healdsburg.  Staff transforms our warehouse into a networking dream-space, decked out with little tables for each lodging member to set up camp and meet/greet the roving winery members- perfect time to interact and share the pertinent aspects of each winery and lodging property.  We are a winery organization of 187 wineries and 56 lodgings, and these events provide a valuable time for member interaction, sharing, and just plain fun.  Yesterday, we built our Wine Road Camaraderie even more! Vintners Inn and John Ash & Co. Treats from Vintners Inn:   Hilton Garden Inn. Madrona Manor Gatsby Garden Party;...

#WFA2012: Part 1

This is my remembrance of A Wine & Food Affair 2012, our 14th Annual!  This is Part 1 of 2-Friday &  Saturday…. The weather is crisp in the morning and evening and temps rise to the mid-80′s during the afternoon.  Much like Camelot, Wine Road definitely has an agreement with the weather powers-that-be…. We start off the weekend with the Wine Road Riedel Seminar up at Francis Ford Coppola Winery with 50 guests on Friday:   I dine at Barndiva- amazing crispy chicken with an egg filled ravioli- just delicious- paired with the amazing, perfect  Skewis  Lingenfelder pinot noir. Skewis Lingenfelder Vineyard, Russian River Valley Beautiful deep garnet color. Effusive nose of blueberry, ripe strawberries, dark cherries, sweet...

Wine Road Member Meet & Greet & Lunch

A Wine Road Winery & Lodging Luncheon Meet & Greet Mixer @ Wine Road World HQ?  Count me in!  Our plan is that our lodging members can set up their presentations at tables in the HQ- winery members will then arrive and meet and greet each and every lodging in the room, leading to relationships, comp tasting and specials cards to our lodgings from our wineries, and a knowledge of each other for both.  We mixed in a lunch (we had a Food Truck on tap- but they stood us up- which led to the mad dash to Safeway which worked out fine….) and delicious Wine Road wines.   This is a cooperative, fun-loving, convivial hospitality group of warm people; we had such a great time! The more we know each other, the better is your Wine Road guest...

A “Wine” Library? What!? Sign Me Up!

As delicious and beckoning as the most attractive connotations of Bread & Circuses, or Loaves & Fishes, as rare as hen’s teeth or hand fan museums, and one of only a handful of such places in the entire nation, the Sonoma County Wine Library, Millie Howie, Founder, is a phenomenal collection of All Things Sonoma County Wine, up close, personal, interactive, visitable, in a day and age when most research is only carried out in the impersonal cold of cyberspace- where actual humans, interested and well-versed in their subject can assist you.  There are links; but this is also a real place- a business, technical and also interested consumer -lay person library and an historical archive.  It includes over 5,000 books and over 30,000 articles, which are...

July Blog- Devour Summer

Devour Summer!  Blog July 1, 2010 by TR The vernal equinox/ solstice has come and gone and summer has arrived here with a full-on sunny vengeance.  After all that previous extended and tedious rain and cold, with no prelude or foreshadowing, summer suddenly is just purely and simply HERE.  The Russian River stopped rising and raging and started meandering- the Summer Dam is almost in at Memorial Beach and rental canoes and kayaks are once again floating downriver dodging the flotilla of jolly and sometimes raucous (ahem)  rafters and tubers.  Outdoor music and movies are again on the Wine Road Event Calendar along with winery outdoor cooking celebrations.  Vegetation is starting to become lush- the vines are leafy, bright green and vibrant as the burgeoning...
