Wine Road Spring
Spring always makes me think of this James Thurber cartoon, with its painful, ironic, true insight into romantic relationships, and also the take on the coming of glorious spring after the dead of winter:

‘I SAID THE HOUNDS OF SPRING ARE ON WINTER’S TRACES- BUT LET IT PASS, LET IT PASS! That repetition of the “but let it pass” line says it all about connubial bliss….this couple is obviously not traveling on Wine Road!
So true, so true….Wine Road TRULY is Heaven Condensed- 186 Wineries and 54 Lodgings clustered in a 30 mile radius and I live that motto daily. I am out and about along Wine Road, today traveling Westside Road- Spring is clearly here.
While visiting Gary Farrell Winery:
Westside Road next takes me to Matrix Winery, where the wisteria and California poppies take my breath away:
Heading towards Healdsburg, I check in at Twomey Cellars to see their springish view to the east:
Hey, Mill Creek Winery has a new cool sign!
Alderbrook Winery looking springish:
Heading up further north now to Trione Vineyards & Winery on Geyserville Avenue, for an annual springtime favorite industry event, Here Comes the Sun, so very Beatles:
Back in Healdsburg, over at the Haydon Street Inn:
The weather is mercurial- in more ways than one! Temps have soared into the mid-nineties and then dropped to provide frost and its warnings. Rain has surprised and sunny, warm days have popped up more frequently. Trees came down and the power went out yesterday in my River Office, so winter has not completely loosened its grip- but spring is gaining momentum.
Here’s looking at you, kids.
