Taste Alexander Valley, 21 & 22 May 2011

The incredible view of Alexander Valley from Field Stone Winery's Oak-shaded picnic grounds- enjoying a Pulled Pork Slider with Field Stone sb- heavenly!

I was out  greatly enjoying TAV and was tweeting where I was going and what I was seeing.  This is the  TAV 14th annual- clear skies, some contrasting billowing clouds on the edges for enhancement of the spring-time radiant blue, and this wrist-banded, annual, exemplary Event was off and running for the weekend!  Wine and fantastic food pairings, special wine sales, Library Tastings, bands, singers, art- hold onto your glasses!  Over 30 participating wineries; best get started.

I check in at Field Stone Winery, noting the festive air with the stone, underground cellar bright, doors open to catch the breeze; there are delicious Pulled Pork Sliders followed by tasty chocolates, with great Field Stone wines to sample, including some Library Selections; great sale going on too- major deals to be had!

Next stop is Hanna Winery, band under the Oak tree, sliders and delicious wines.  Place is jumping, very festive crowd enjoying the food and wine pairings and displays of artwork under the Oak tree.

Heading now to Alexander Valley Vineyards- they had just run out of our Wine Road Maps- hey, lucky I ALWAYS have a ready supply in my car!  Zin Restaurant was on hand serving up delicious braised short ribs to pair with some AVV spicy zins- or cab-or… well, many to choose from and ample outdoor seating out among the tanks in front of the cave doors.

Lots of dancing in the warm sunshine to Bautista, Samba, Latin Jazz and Rock Fusion band-

Next stop: Soda Rock Winery, Western-themed “Visit the Alamo”, gorgeous grounds, historic buildings, impressive tour, lots of wines and food galore- entertainment, too.

Even the Soda Rock Stuffed Boar Mascot was all-Western-decked out. I especially appreciate the disarmingly charming yellow cowboy hat touch.

Fun group at Soda Rock- great old-fashioned vehicle; also providing a DD!

Running out of Event time, and I end at Stonestreet Alexander Mountain Estate; gorgeous sweeping approach, Maple trees newly, freshly, bright-greened, iris still blooming, joined now by abundances and cascades of yellow and white roses.  The day is warm, and the Sno-Cones with Mountain Wine Syrup hit the spot- as do Stonestreet wines on my favorite terrace.

Time to relax and just enjoy.  Guests are full, happy and satisfied.

Here’s looking at you, kids.
