Harvest Fair 2011
The Sonoma County Harvest Fair- where you can taste the best of Sonoma County- is a true, old-fashioned, local event, where winemakers actually interact and share with their peers. It is a local, huge, big deal, where the judging and the awards carry clout, illustrating the amazing achievements in wine this county has to offer. And not just wine- here is the official description of this harvest celebration:
Sonoma County Harvest Fair is a celebration of harvest featuring three full days of wine tasting with 150+ wineries, wine sales, marketplace, chef demonstrations, farm and harvest agricultural activities for children and adults, the World Championship Grape Stomp, continuous live jazz, an art show and sale, crafters pavilion, farm animals to meet, and much more.
Of course for Wine Time TR, it IS JUST all about the WINE. I missed the Gala Dinner on Saturday night when the award winners were announced, but Tony Logan Immordino sent me this Gala-side magical picture:
I attended the daytime Trade Tasting gala- and was up-close and personal with many Wine Road Members- congratulations to all!
First up- Alexander Valley Vineyards.
Acorn Winery/Alegria Vineyards:

Betsy Nachbaur, Acorn/Alegria- also known for extreme canoeing prowess-she is eternal on the water....and in the vineyards.
Star sighting! My favorite Danny Kaye look-alike from Sonoma County Tourism:
Robert Rue Vineyard & Winery and Pedroncelli Winery:

Carlene Rue, Robert Rue Vineyard, and Ed St. John, Pedroncelli Winery. (Very amusing conversation and outlaw behavior found here....)
Right next door, Pech Merle Winery:

Darek (Martinelli) Trowbridge, Old World Winery....also a member of the Wine Road Board Of Directors....

Dee Rued, Rued Vineyards & Winery, tells me about her awesome new video that she will post on her Wine Road page this weekend....
I saw one more elusive star from Sonoma State University- but, I was unable to capture him in a candid photograph:
Ray Johnson, aka "Doctor"....could not grab a candid- he may be a vampire....his presence adds weight to any wine education occasion.
Great fun! This is old-fashioned wine interaction with winemakers completely accessible, open, friendly and on-deck; this is what makes Wine Road so special.
We love our Wine Road Winery Stars!
Here’s looking at you, kids.
