Geyserville Walking Tour

I decided to play guest/visitor/tourist the other day and stroll the length of Geyserville from north to south and record what I saw.

Geyserville Inn: Lovely accommodations, wedding and meeting sites, right IN the vineyards....

Hoffman House: summer dinners al fresco- my favorite....

Starting up at the Geyserville Inn and its Hoffman House Restaurant, I started my walk, camera in hand, due south:

Hope-Merrill House, majestic and elegant @ 1870.

Hope-Merrill & Hope-Bosworth: Where Wine and Romance Intertwine.

Sister inns, right across the street from one another- this one @ 1904.

View through the picket fence of the garden path entrance to Hope-Bosworth.

Moseying further south along this quiet tiny town road....

Charming, quiet, small town....

Great price!

VERY friendly and beautiful hens; I hear tell that their dedicated owner took out his whole front garden to afford them their free-range roving pleasures!

Small town name-recognition-

Just past the sign, Route 128 Winery.

And a bit of small-town makes it big: recently, our Alexander Valley favorite, Jimtown Store, was featured on our famous Santa Rosan, Guy Fieri’s, DINERS, DRIVE INS AND DIVES- episode “Porktastic”.

On May 9, Guy will be @ his Geyserville choice location to present the episode following dinner: Congratulations Catelli’s!

Behind the distinctive yellow door await culinary adventures (and a full bar)!

Across the street, the famous, just 100 years old this year, Bosworth & Son General Merchandise.

From hardware, to Western clothing, to wine-making supplies, to dishes, to candy- you will find it here.

Moving southward, here comes  The Meeker Vineyard.

The Meeker TR- just past Catelli's.

Locals TR.

Locals. Cooperative AND delicious.

Devilishly great pizza and authentic Italian-fare, local and Italian wines can be found at Diavola.

Neighbor to the south: Mercury Wine.

Mercury TR.

Dogs AND People welcome!

Grab a cup of Joe, or Josephine?  Geyserville Mud will energize you!

Geyserville Mud: Coffee, treats & a smile!

The end of the Ave- Geyserville Ave that is: Terroirs Artisan Wines:

  • .

  • Relax in the lounge area of Terroirs Artisan Wines.

    Here’s looking at you, kids.

        Hi Karen:
Thank you so much for your very kind words! Yes, please, I would love it if you could use this for some of your advertising for Geyserville- would love to see how you end up using it, too. Unfortunately, cannot attend the May Day Festival this year, but know it will be lovely- weather should be wonderful. Saw Cosette last night at Preston- she liked the blog too!
        Best,
        TR

        FREE ADMISSION

Please join the Geyserville Chamber of Commerce and our community for the 35th ANNUAL MAY DAY FESTIVAL.

This down home event will have something for everyone!
MUSIC, KID’S GAMES, GREAT FOOD, LOCAL WINES & FAMILY FUN

LEGEND has it, the first May Day Festival was back in 1925. It began as a day to come together as a community and celebrate the wonders of spring. Teachers and Students from all the surrounding schoolhouses were represented. Children would dress up as fairy tale characters and go on pony rides and cake walks. The Firefighters would have water fights and raise money for new equipment. Sometimes you might find a Quilt Raffle or Grape Box Derby Cars racing down the hill form Hoffman Grove. Local children danced the Traditional May Pole Dance and all anticipated the crowning of the May Day Queen!

TODAY, founding settlers of Geyserville still come together and celebrate what has become a town tradition. The crowning of the May Day Queen and her court will be at 1:30. The original may Pole from 1925 will be danced around by local 3rd Grade classes at 2:00. Enjoy the music of Hillary Marckx throughout the day. Kids can play in a Jump Room, climb the Rock Wall and have fun with face painting! The Middle School Ballet Folklorico will perform. There will be a wonderful Geyserville History Display and an egg-toss competition. Geyser Peak Wines and Beer will be served to accompany all the tasty eats, like steak sandwiches and more!

All proceeds benefit community non-profit groups.
