Drive from Chalk Hill Road through the Alexander Valley

The Alexander Valley AVA and Chalk Hill AVA: the latter is a small, separate designation of the Russian River Valley AVA; they converge along my route.
I often like to walk a route and blog it; here is a fun route that I drove. My day did not, of course, include all the wineries in the Alexander Valley or the Chalk Hill AVA’s, but it is a beautiful, easy drive, and I will show you which of our Wine Road Winery Members you will see along the way with my chronicling of all their roadside signs. You will see just what I saw- use a Wine Road Map and you cannot go wrong!- Chalk Hill Road, to Highway 128, which becomes Alexander Valley Road, to Healdsburg Avenue.
I started at Chalk Hill Estate Winery.
Moving from the Chalk Hill AVA to the Alexander Valley AVA, here is Lancaster Estate.
Next is Field Stone Winery.
Next is Hanna Winery – Alexander Valley.
Next is Alexander Valley Vineyards, aka AVV.
Next is Johnson’s Alexander Valley Wines.
Next is Soda Rock Winery.
Next is White Oak Winery aka WOW.
- White Oak Winery.
Sausal Winery next.
Stonestreeet Alexander Mountain Estate is next.
Next is Hawkes Wine.
Next up is Medlock Ames, right past the stop sign where Highway 128 turns to the right, and you go straight, following Alexander Valley Road.
Stuhlmuller Vineyards is next. Left turn onto West Soda Rock Lane off of Alexander Valley Road immediately following the Alexander Valley Bridge- easy 2 miles to Stuhlmuller.
Back up to Alexander Valley Road (Alexander Valley Road and Highway 128 morph into one another) and Jordan Winery is next up.
Last winery on this jaunt is Simi Winery- Alexander Valley Road meets Healdsburg Avenue- go left at the stop sign and head towards the town of Healdsburg.
Here’s looking at you, kids.
