Everett Ridge Vineyards & Winery
Everett Ridge Vineyards & Winery, historic, the second oldest winery in DCV, with barn dating back to 1900, quietly making wines much too good to ignore, is nestled on a hillside looking east towards Healdsburg, with spectacular vistas enjoyed from both the TR and the outdoor deck area, featuring inspired Family Style Tastings. There is also a wood-fired pizza oven, as well as gardens, close-in-proximity-grown-in-blocks-vines, a special warm welcome for bicyclists, motorists and dogs. Picnic foods are available in the cold case, right alongside their chilled, delicious wines. The warmth from staff is evident in this relaxed TR; the views in the cooler months, speaking of warmth, feature the steam plumes from the Geysers across the valley. Many...

The Sonoma County Harvest Fair- where you can taste the best of Sonoma County- is a true, old-fashioned, local event, where winemakers actually interact and share with their peers. It is a local, huge, big deal, where the judging and the awards carry clout, illustrating the amazing achievements in wine this county has to offer. And not just wine- here is the official description of this harvest celebration: Sonoma County Harvest Fair is a celebration of harvest featuring three full days of wine tasting with 150+ wineries, wine sales, marketplace, chef demonstrations, farm and harvest agricultural activities for children and adults, the World Championship Grape Stomp, continuous live jazz, an art show and sale, crafters pavilion, farm animals to meet, and...
Read MoreRodney Strong Vineyards
Rodney Strong was totally cool- a Sonoma County pioneer and innovative grower, winemaker, entertainment expert and a hoofer from way back; I saw him dance once and was just amazed- he could have been a star on Broadway. Rodney Strong Vineyards, conveniently located on the Old Redwood Highway in Healdsburg, is home to star wines, great self-guided or guided tours from dirt to done, picnic area right in the vines, TR with fun merchandise, tasting with expert hospitality staff and a Summer Music series that rocks- I saw Madeleine Peyroux here and I will NEVER forget that Sunday afternoon….outside venue, on the grass, Rodney Strong wines and snacks…and Madeleine- paradise. Home to many other special events, such as the famous chocolate Valentine...

With temperatures soaring into the high 90′s and harvest occupying minds, the gala Wine Road/Redwood Empire Food Bank Fund-Raising Event flew into our World Headquarters and reminded us all how close-knit and caring a community this is. Each year, Wine Road donates at least $50,000 to the REFB, building that amount from $1/ticket sold to our Barrel Tasting, the largest wine event in California, as well as with raffles, gifts and events such as our Gala. Spreading the word solely via the most social of media, Facebook and Twitter, both Beth and I (TR), and all who picked up the call, were also ably assisted by Healdsburg Patch, which produced an awesome video about the event. Here is the word via Beth that was geared toward posting on FB and Twitter;...
Read MoreWine & Food Pairing along Wine Road
On our newly launched Wine Road website, we have a new section called Concierge which guides guests to restaurants, recreation, galleries, theaters, transportation companies, wedding sites, winery tours, my blog, Wine Time with TR- and daily Wine & Food Pairings with our member wineries. Wine cries out for food, as food cries out for wine- pretty cacophonous, lively, noisome pairing that is made in heaven. Pure joy. I recently payed a visit to Kendall-Jackson Wine Center, a place that is oh-so-much-more that a mere “Wine Center”, it is truly a Sensory Emporium, with gorgeous gardens, wines, a sensory evaluation garden where herbs and plants mimic and present the tastes found in wines, a demonstration vineyard, a chateau-like setting AND Wine...
